I am a retired ART teacher of 23 years. Although I have made art all of my life, I never pursued it until I made it my Major in College after a bike accident. An accident that changed the direction of my life. I could always draw, and loved it, but didn’t realize I was good at it. Teaching art taught me a lot about how to communicate something visual, and allow me to experiment and learn while teaching. WHAT IF, and WHY NOT became my goal, for both me and my students. Exploring the process and the product to find out which, if either, is most important. It turns out they both art. Teaching allowed me to explore places for myself that I never imagined me going. Growing confidence in myself as well as students. And now, having passed that along to students, I can now explore it more fully for myself. My interest has a very wide variety, as I have taught so many different mediums from jewelry making, printmaking, painting, sculpture, fine craft, bookmaking, ceramics, film photography to now digital. But when asked what it is I really love to do is to go back to the basics of drawing Pencil and paper. I now have an equal love of phone photography and editing. The fewer the supplies, the better. Although, when I see new opportunities, I explore those too. Like oil painting. Something I did very little of and now enjoy. ART is a place for me to be myself. To meditate, have quiet, experiment and learn.
